JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Yoga for a Cause with Melissa Gottschalk and Sarah Lieber benefitting the Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes was held on November 20, 2021 and raised $625.00. The JDRF was chosen for our co-owner Jean Paul. Jean Paul was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 7 while living in Mexico City. At that time, there was limited access to life saving medicine and supplies. With the JDRF and lifesaving research, his diabetes is now successfully managed daily. Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease that impacts millions of people and cannot be prevented or cured – yet. To manage his T1D, Jean Paul regularly monitors his blood-sugar levels with a device called Dexcom, infuses insulin through a wireless insulin pump called OmniPod, and he carefully balances those doses with eating and all daily activities to prevent uncomfortable and dangerous side effects. Every single day. These devices are his artificial pancreas. Our hope is to find a cure so no other human will have to endure this disease.
